Mission

Following Jesus, making Him known in all we do.

Jesus stands at the very center of the Christian faith as the redeemer of all creation, the object of our trust, and our example to follow.  In the confidence that Jesus has all power and authority in our world and in the assurance that he is always with us, we give ourselves fully to a kind of “everyday living” that offers the world compelling proof of a God who loves and transforms people.   (Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 14:25-35; Colossians 2:9; Acts 1:8)

Vision

To see all things reconciled to God through Jesus.

God, in Jesus, has made peace through the cross and will one day fully restore all things to reflect His creation intent.  We believe that the Kingdom of God is made visible where all things are in right relationship with Him, and by extension in right relationship with each other.  What Jesus taught us to pray is also the reality we work to receive from God in the present: “Your Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.” (Revelation 21-22; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21; Colossians 1:19-20; Matthew 6:10).

Values

Submission to Scripture

We believe the bible is a written record of God’s self-disclosure to humanity.  It is a collection of inspired, ancient writings which have authoritative, contemporary application; its message is fully alive today.  The bible is our guide for doctrine and ethics and the standard by which we test all claims about God. It tells the story of how God, in His grace, has taken the initiative to redeem a broken creation, a story which God calls us to enter and participate in. (Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Acts 17:11)

Prayer Engagement

We believe that prayer is not only a means of communing with God but also has a real effect in seeing the kingdom of God take visible hold in the world as He responds to our prayers according to His will.  Prayer is a way in which we develop active dependency on God and a tool by which we participate with God in “confronting the forces of evil and restoring life to its fullness.”  (Luke 6:9-10; Ephesians 6:10-18; 1 John 5:14; James 5:16-18)

Life Together

We believe that the Christian life is most authentically lived when an individual is united in a distinct, covenant community with other believers.  Throughout time God has been in the process of calling to himself not simply individual persons, but a people. Living in interdependent community most fully reflects the nature of a God who also exists in triune community.  When journeying together in a spirit of authentic love and mutual submission, the interrelationship between Christians also serves as an identifier of a true, Jesus following community. (1 Peter 2:9; Matthew 18:15-20; Ephesians 5:21; 2 Corinthians 13:14; John 13:35)

Spirit-led Serving

We believe that in the kingdom of God authority means better service and never superiority.  Jesus himself came not to be served, but to serve God’s world, and we follow Him by adopting servanthood as the posture by which we participate in accomplishing the mission of God.  And as Jesus depended on the power of the Holy Spirit in order to live out his vocation, we likewise look to the Holy Spirit for empowerment in our life of service. (Luke 22:26-27; Hebrews 13:16; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Luke 4:14)
