Shared Housing Available - We are seeking Christian housemates to join us in renting our beautiful home. Our home is located in East Abbotsford, within walking distance to Downtown. It is close to numerous amenities, near a bus stop, very close to both the Abby/Mission Hwy and Hwy 1, and a short drive to both UFV and CBC. Our home consists of a single female, and a married couple with their 1 year old son. We are all living in intentional community together and are seeking likeminded people to be a part of this home and community with us. We share our common living spaces (2 living rooms, rec room, dining room, kitchen, laundry), have a beautiful, large front and back yard (with lots of garden space), and a garage with a workbench and plenty of available storage. Our home also gets lots of natural light and has plenty of available parking. We will have 2 bedrooms available for rent as of August 1. These may best be suited for 2 individuals or one married couple, though we are open to hearing from anyone interested. Rent is $500/person (or $1000 for a couple). COMMUNITAS - Are you handy? Do you have a heart for teaching people practical skills? Do weekday, daytime hours appeal to you? This permanent part time, 20hr/week position supervises
and manages a work crew of individuals who have varying abilities. The Work Coach works
along-side the crew members to give them vocational training and experience in various
unskilled work projects. The Work Coach also works with various program managers at
Communitas to develop and structure unskilled labor projects. Additionally, this position will
spend a portion of time seeking unskilled labor projects out in the community.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Employment Counseling, Social Services certificate or approved equivalent, or experience in working with individuals with varying abilities
  • Experience using hand tools and power tools, and experience driving with a trailer is preferred
  • Emergency First Aid Certificate with CPR
  • Possession of a valid class 5 BC driver’s license (Must be willing to obtain a class 4 BC restricted driver’s license within 3 months of hire)

ON CALL DRIVERS – Inasmuch Community Society works with refugees in Abbotsford.  Our folks often have to go to Vancouver to meet with lawyers, get their medicals or report to the CBSA. We’re trying to build a bank of people who’d be willing to drive them – to Vancouver, the train station in Mission or local appointments. Are you able to help us?
