I am grateful to be a part of the South Abbotsford Church, after attending with my family for almost my whole life. While at South Abbotsford I have had many amazing opportunities to be surrounded by a loving community while actively serving in many of the church’s ministries.
My role at South Abbotsford as the Worship Arts Pastor involves providing pastoral oversight and leadership for the Worship Arts Ministry and its members and offering worship leadership in our Sunday morning gatherings and occasional weekly ministries.
My wife, Carlee Lewis, and I have been married since August 2016. We have been friends for almost our whole lives as we attended the same grade school and university and were involved in many church ministries together. I graduated from the University of the Fraser Valley in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, where I learned a lot about myself and the Canadian criminological system.
I have a great appreciation for social activities such as disc golfing, going to the movies, and playing competitive slow-pitch baseball. In addition to that, I have always loved playing music, and my favorite instrument to play is the drums. A close second is playing my acoustic guitar and singing while leading the Church in worshipping God.
My heart finds incredible joy in worshiping God through the arts, particularly through music, and leading the church to do the same corporately. I myself have been transformed by the powerful experience of the Church responding to God together in worship. I am honored to serve God by regularly facilitating this corporate act of worship in the Church!
One of my favorite portions of scripture is Psalm 92, where we are reminded that “…It is good to sing praise to the Lord and make music to [His] name…”. My dream is that our times of corporate worship will encourage myself and others to have a life-long commitment of worshipping God in all that we say, think, and do. I am very excited to be a part of the family and team at South Abbotsford Church!
