Vision and Values

Following Jesus.
Making Him known in all we do.

This is our mission. What we talk a lot about.

And of course, this is just a slogan unless we live it out.

We are a gather-scatter church.

We gather.

We don't believe Church is a building, but people. So we gather for worship and encouragement. We gather Sundays and midweek. We teach the Bible and pray for one another. We believe that Jesus moves among us when we do all this. He renews, restores and heals our hearts to empower us to live on mission.

We scatter.

And we scatter for mission. We have our sights set on city renewal and transformation. If Jesus is making things new, then we'll join Him as we see the Kingdom coming around us in all sorts of ways. We're involved in schools, neighbourhoods, and workplaces to shine love and light. We believe we are called to be the hands of Jesus to a world in need.

Our Values

These are things we care about

GENERATIONS

If you visit us, this is one of the first things you'll notice. Lots of different ages everywhere. Gray haired oldies and soother totting youngins with everyone between. We invest in the next generation to see the church alive and flourishing.

We believe the Church is at her very best when displaying the variety and strength of many generations pursuing Jesus together.

RELATIONSHIP

We are on a journey together. A journey of knowing God and each other.

So we focus a lot on the Spirit of God. Learning to listen and respond. We are passionate in our worship, committed to Scripture and expectant as a gathered people.

We also care deeply about one another. We're all in different places so we desire to journey alongside with love and grace as we seek to become more like Jesus.

Our love for people spills beyond our walls into our community and city to be the hands and feet of Jesus to a world in need.

APPRENTICESHIP

For us, this whole Jesus-thing is a lot bigger than just a religion. It's a whole life adjustment. We believe that to follow Jesus, we'll need to actually learn what it means to be apprentices. To be with Him, to be like Him and to do what He did.

This value also means we're giving the next generation lots of opportunity to lead in all sorts of areas of our church.

FORMATION

Something is forming you. Do you know what it is?

We are intentional about what it will take to become like Jesus. Yes, He does this work in us, and yes, we participate. We create space through spiritual disciplines and rhythms to see Jesus transform us.

We're learning more about things like prayer, sabbath, solitude, generosity, hospitality, and most importantly to experience Jesus in our suffering and pain.  All this gets formed in our teaching, practice and community centered on the Holy Spirit.

Our Vision

Our vision is a church community filled with people who are becoming more and more like Jesus. We all have a story, but ours is marked by Jesus giving us hope that He is making all things new.

We are choosing to be intentionally formed into apprentices of Jesus that look like:

SENT PEOPLE

We care about living missionally locally and globally.

We are becoming people who see themselves as missionaries sent into our city, neighbourhoods, schools, and work, to live the light and love of Jesus to a world in need. We go into our city and all the world to live and proclaim the Kingdom here and coming again.

KINGDOM PEOPLE

We care about all kinds of prayer and justice.

We are becoming people who hear and are lead by the voice of the Spirit. This hearing is meant to impact the world around us, and we see this prophetic encouragement as a call to bring justice to all who are oppressed. We desire to see the Kingdom come around us as we live in the will of the Father, in real time.

STORY PEOPLE

We care deeply about lost people and sharing this incredible good news.

We are becoming people who know deeply the story of God. We are marked by Good News as a creation-fall-redemption-restoration story. This story includes Jesus as the hero and us as participants of grace, with a waiting world who needs to hear it all.

COMMUNITY PEOPLE

We care deeply about creating real community and journeying together.

We are becoming people who care deeply for one another. This extends beyond Sunday and into the week. We share needs, encourage and challenge one another. All this is marked by love. A deep and real authentic love that allows us to really see each other, show grace, and practically meet real needs in our everyday lives.

WISDOM PEOPLE

We care deeply about the Bible and learning how to live it out in everyday life.

We are becoming people who love learning and applying the Word. This passion for the Bible is rooted in knowing Jesus and the revelation of Himself through the whole story. We believe understanding the context and interpreting well are critical to becoming Good News people.
