Connecting Points

9:00-11:00am Wednesday mornings. The spring session starts Wednesday, March 24.

Connecting Points is a weekday morning opportunity for women of all ages to connect with each other. It's a time to meet up with old friends, and a time to meet new friends. It's a time to give and receive encouragement. Child care is offered for children ages 6 months to 5 years. Mothers with children under 6 months are invited to bring their infants to class with them.

Our Spring session will include a Potpourri of opportunities for you to learn, create and serve in different ways. For some sessions we will all be together, and for some sessions we will divide into smaller groups. Over the eight weeks, everyone will participate in the same activities.

The cost for the Spring Term is $15. Please bring payment on March 24.

Missions

South Abbotsford Church is active in missions with many career and short-term mission participants! Praise God! Our church is dedicated to meeting the needs of our career missionaries and to promoting the global mission of the Church. As God leads, we desire to continue to send staff and leadership to connect with our missionaries where they live to show our support and interest in they work that they are doing. This has had a tremendous impact on those who were visited. It is always a blessing to connect when missionaries are here on home service and we continue to do what we can to show care to all those serving in missions - which is a challenge that we can only meet with the support of life groups and individuals in the church.

Short-term missions (click here to download this years opportunities brochure) is also an area we whole-heartedly support. We love to pray for and support these missionaries as well. For those going on Short-term missions (1 year or less), bursary forms are available on the Information Wall or click here to download a copy for you to print and bring into the office.. Please let the office know if you are heading off on a mission's trip so we can add you to our prayer list.

Haiti Relief

Haiti Earthquake Relief Efforts

In the wake of the recent devastation in Haiti, we are aware that many people are seeking ways in which they can contribute to the relief efforts. Here are a couple suggestions in regards to how you could practically get involved.

Tape a Toonie to a 1 or 2 KG bag of rice and bring it to church. The organization that is distributing the food in Haiti, (Heart To Heart Haiti), has specifically requested 1 or 2 KG bags. Larger bags are not as practical because they would then need to repackage the rice for distribution. We will add these bags of rice to the containers of food that will be leaving BC in the next few weeks and the toonie will help with the shipping costs.

If you prefer to donate cash, here is some information that will be helpful:

1. When donating through major relief organization such as MCC Canada and World Vision the Canadian government will match you dollar for dollar.

2. When donating through MCC every penny goes to the relief work because they pay for their administration through other fundraising. Also be aware that MCC already has workers on the ground in Haiti and know how to prioritize the needs. They are collecting primarily for housing (temporary kind at first) and cash to purchase food. Click here to donate on-line to MCC.

3. Click here to donate on line to World Vision.

4. Click here to donate on line to Power to Change.

Declaring for Christ: (Baptism Class) Wednesday, January 27 at 7pm - Room 104
It's a significant decision to make public a decision that we have made privately. We believe that baptism is a sign to the world that we have received God's gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. We've turned from our own way and want to declare that we are giving ourselves totally to going God's way. At SAC we baptize people upon confession of their faith, a personal decision. We use the form of immersion because we believe it best signifies leaving our old life and rising to live our lives following God's way.

Committing to Community: (Membership Class) Wednesday, February 3 at 7pm - Room 104
Living as a Christ-follower was never designed to be a solo experience. As different parts of a physical body need each other, so we need each other as well. Committing to one particular community of faith gives us the opportunity to be known and know others, to be cared for and care for others, to be served and serve others.
