JOB DESCRIPTION – APRIL 2008
TITLE: Pastor of Children’s Ministries
SUCCESS DEFINITION:
The Pastor of Children’s Ministries will create an environment where parents and volunteers are empowered to effectively raise children who love and wholeheartedly follow Christ, and where the process of children’s discipleship occurs both on and off the church campus.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a related field of ministry. They will also have experience in church related children’s ministry, a proven track record in recruiting volunteers, and experience related to the management of volunteer staff. The individual must also be in agreement with the South Abbotsford Church confession of faith.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Development and implementation of a ministry plan for Children’s Ministries (current programs include Nursery, Preschool, Kids Quest, Boys Club, Girls Club, VBS, Kids Choir) that enhances the overall direction and goals of South Abbotsford Church
Recruiting, training, motivating and care for volunteers
Provide pastoral care for children and their families along with the Caring Pastor
Work with parents to strengthen discipleship within the context of family life
Work in conjunction with the Pastor of KIDstuf to ensure that weekend children’s ministry areas remain complementary
Lead each area of Children’s Ministries through an annual ministry effectiveness review process
Participate in the process of ministry budgeting
Make assessments regarding the needs of children and families in the community and develop a strategy for ministry to those individuals
Function as the liaison between the church and regional camps.
Attend South Abbotsford Church regularly and frequently
Ensure that personal and ministry life reflect an individual who desires to honor God
RELATIONSHIPS:
Serves as a member of the Student and Family Life Team
Oversees volunteer staff within the Children’s Ministry area
Is responsible to the Pastor of Student and Family Life
