RELATIONSHIP DESCRIPTION
PASTOR OF CARING MINISTRIES


AUTHORITY:

The Pastor of Caring Ministries functions with authority from the Lead Pastor.
Resources delegated to the Pastor of Caring Ministries include the staffs of the various ministries under his responsibility, the financial resources for the operation of those ministries, a part-time administrative assistant and a personal compensation and benefits package.


LIMITATIONS:
  • The limitations of the authority for the Pastor of Caring Ministries are determined by:
  • The laws of the province of British Columbia and Canada
  • The strategic plans and priorities of South Abbotsford Church as expressed by the Council.
  • Limitations by the Lead Pastor
  • Limitations of the Senior Management Team
  • The South Abbotsford Church Management Manual
  • Limitations specific to the position of Pastor of Caring Ministries

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The responsibilities of the position are to give oversight and management to:
  • Deacons’ visitation and benevolent assistance.
  • DivorceCare and DC4K.
  • The SAC Service Team.
  • Alpha Marriage.
  • The Seniors’ ministry.
  • The Prayer Ministry.
  • The development and operation of a Pastoral Care School of Ministry.
  • The development and operation of a counseling plan – crisis and referral
  • To participate as a member of the Lead Pastor’s Management Team.
  • To participate as called upon by the Lead Pastor to assist with:
  • Pre-marriage and officiating at weddings
  • Funerals and bereavements
  • Hospital visitations


EXPECTATIONS:
  • The expectations of responsibility are expressed in the tactical plans developed by the Senior Management Team under the direction of the Lead Pastor. They are reviewed with the Lead Pastor in the annual relationship review.
  • The Pastor is expected to implement the organizational values in the strategic plan developed by the Council and to affirm the relationship values of affirmation, involvement and servant leadership with staff, volunteers and other stakeholders.
  • The Pastor is expected to undertake professional development appropriate to the Pastor’s area of ministry.

ACCOUNTABILITY
  • Accountability is mutual between the Lead Pastor and the Pastor of Caring Ministry. The Lead Pastor is accountable to provide the resources, authorization, affirmation, involvement and servant leadership required for the successful realization of the Pastor of Caring Ministries’ responsibilities.
  • The primary accountability of the Pastor of Caring Ministries is to the Lead Pastor for performance and for compliance with the limitations of authority and expectations of responsibility.
  • Accountability is mutual between the Pastor of Administration and Equipping and the Pastor of Caring Ministries. The Pastor of Administration and Equipping is responsible to provide the financial and facility resources for the successful implementation of the tactical plans of the Caring Ministries.
  • The Pastor of Caring Ministries is accountable to the Pastor of Administration and Equipping for the implementation of financial resources and the use of facility resources within the limitations of the tactical planning of the Senior Management Team.
  • Both relationships are reviewed annually.
