Ministry-at-a-Glance

Primary Ministry Focus:

To train and disciple men and women of different language groups who will become mother tongue translators of the New Testament Scriptures. And to initiate and support the process of on-going Scripture translating within the borders of specific language groups, particularly, of the major language groups of the world.

Major Challenges:
*Put together all the information we have gathered on inputting a Greek text corpus into an acceptable computer format.
-This format will need to be very flexible and useable for our future translation needs. The facsimile copy of Codex Vaticanus has arrived from Italy. We are hoping that the transcription process can begin on an experimental basis by late spring which will be contingent upon our resolving the final computer software questions.
*Understand how to best encourage and help our counterparts in Poland to continue working in the New Testament scriptures, to develop their New Testament Greek skills, to share what they have learned with other Poles, and to shoulder the responsibilities of the translating needs of the Polish bible.
*Make and develop new contacts in Poland who would also be interested in working to get a contextual understanding of the New Testament scriptures and learning New Testament Greek.
-If there is also someone in Austria interested in a translation project for Austria, we will be right there to help him/her.

Prayer Focus:
*We are very thankful to God for the safety and health we experienced and for the kindness and love we felt from everyone as we traveled through North America this past summer. At the end of October we returned to Austria encouraged to continue our work. We had many good conversations as we shared our ministry plans for the next years here in Europe (Austria and Poland).
1. Together with a friend, Carl would like to get the computer program for transcribing the Greek text of the Codex Vaticanus up and running this winter. That will take a lot of concentrated work and effort. We would like to begin transcribing this text into the computer program next summer. Pray that this work would run smoothly and get done on time.

2. Early next year Carl would like to travel up to Poland to visit Jurek and Piotr in order to make arrangements for our participation in a week or two of youth camp on the Baltic Sea this coming summer.

3. Our family:

Nicole has been living in North America for nearly 3 months now and is doing well. She faced adjustments to the university system plus having to study in English instead of German for the first time. She has a very good living situation for which we are very thankful. She would appreciate your prayers as she works in the archeology department. She said she has never met so many people who are openly opposed to God.

Adrian and Karina continue their studies in Vienna. Pray for them to be able to give “the hope that is within them” at university as well as in the village. Both are involved with the local soccer club. Adrian is also training the young boys who have given him inroads into their lives, as well as into the live of their parents.
