(kids are dismissed during the Sunday morning services at 9:00 and 11:00)
We believe that children are gifts from God and made in His image. Our kids are an important part of our community and we encourage them to be involved in serving and in following Jesus' command to love God and love others (Mark 12:30-31). It is our desire to make church a nurturing, enlightening and fun place for your children. We value our kids and the plan that God has for each one of them. It is a privilege for us to come alongside families and partner with them in raising our kids for Jesus. Two combined influences make a greater impact!
Sunday Morning - What to Expect
Our 9am service contains our main children’s program as a significant majority of our young families attend the 9am service. The 11am service provides very similar teaching and activities, though scaled down, adjusted to the small number of children that attend this second service.
If it's your first time, please stop by our KidsQuest area in the foyer to register your children and hear about what our kids will be doing that morning! Our welcome team and anyone wearing a blue KidsQuest shirt will be able to help you find the right class for your child.
Every Sunday morning in KidsQuest you can expect for your children to learn about Jesus while connecting with friends and leaders. We have something for children of all ages, separated into age-appropriate classes. Our leaders have been selected, screened, and trained so that your family receives the best care possible.
Nursery (ages 0-2)
The nursery provides loving care for infants, babies, and toddlers from 0-2 years old. The nursery has safe play areas with lots of toys, music, and a nearby washroom with a change table.
The nursery is located at the top of the main foyer stairs and is staffed with screened volunteers, and also equipped with a paging system. If you are new to South Abbotsford, please let one of the volunteers know and they will direct you on signing your child in and receiving a pager and nametag. If the pager vibrates while you are in the service, please return to the nursery.
Our nursery caregivers are committed to praying for your children while they are in our nursery care. You will notice that each week, they pray for a different aspect of each child's life. God has amazing plans for each one of these children and we are privileged to be able to pray for them as they grow and learn of Jesus' love for them! All the prayers are taken out of the book, Praying the Scriptures for Your Children, by Jodie Berndt. We pray for something different every two weeks!
2 Year Old Class
This program which is located in the nursery introduces children to the God of the Bible through age-appropriate activities such as stories, singing, crafts and activity-based learning. Sign your child in at the nursery and all two-year-olds will be taken to their classroom from there. Children may be picked up at the nursery once the service is over.
Trekkers (Ages 3-5)
Our preschool and kindergarten kids meet together in their classrooms to start and then join together for their large group worship time. Our large group leaders engage our kids in worshiping Jesus through movement and music. After large group, the kids return to their classes for a Bible lesson, crafts, games and puppets to interact and talk about the story they just heard. Our goal is that this time would be a highlight of their week as they explore and learn about Jesus' love for them.
We use The Story curriculum for ages 2-5. Children learn in 3 easy steps: Come Together, Hear the Story and Explore More! Each easy-to-use lesson actively engages children in the Bible story and leads them to experience God's love and know Jesus. Children learn to recognize that the Bible is God's Word and that God loves and cares for them. The Story curriculum also offers a variety of ways for you as parents to build faith at home throughout the week. Please feel free to pick up the Parent Page outside your child's classroom.
Trailblazers (Grades 1-5)
Trailblazers participate in a large group/small group ministry model. This experience includes relevant Bible teaching, high energy music for praise and worship, and small group activities to reinforce learning and build friendships.
We use the Gospel Project Curriculum which focuses on God's Big Plan for His creation. Click here to watch The Big Story and see what it's all about
We pray that this is a time that kids look forward to each week - having fun connecting with other kids and their leaders and feeling comfortable and safe in strengthening their faith and seeking God's plan for their life!
