Home Welcome

I'm New...

We're excited that you're considering visiting us! Our services happen on Sunday mornings at 9:00am and 11:00am, so you are welcome to come at whichever time suits you best.

If you've never been to church, or haven't been in a long time, you may have questions or hesitations about what to expect. We want you to know, no matter your background, or reason for seeking a church, you are welcome here.

Our services are filled with a variety of people and backgrounds. Whatever your walk of life, you will be welcomed. We want to make sure there are no unexpected surprises for you when you come to South Abbotsford Church, so we have compiled a list of responses to questions that might be on your mind.

SUNDAY SERVICES

What should I wear?

We want you to feel comfortable. There is no dress code. On any given Sunday, you will see a mix of suits, jeans, dresses and t-shirts. Join us, just as you are.

Where should I sit?

You are welcome to sit anywhere you like, whether it be in the lower main area of the worship center, or upstairs in our balcony during our first service (our second service is smaller, and we invite everyone to join us on the main floor). There is no assigned seating. There are spots available for those in wheelchairs. An usher would be happy to assist you.

What will my kids do?

Our Children's Ministry (KidsQuest) is available for newborn to grade 5 in both services. When you arrive at South Abbotsford Church, please locate the KidsQuest check-in counter to sign your child in and connect with one of our team members (wearing a blue KidsQuest t-shirt). The team will be happy to direct you to the nursery (0-2 years old) or help you determine where your child would be during the service and print off name tag stickers (one for your child, one for you).

Your child(ren) will sit with you for the first part of the service for singing and sometimes a special feature we might have. When it's time for KidsQuest, our leaders will stand at the front of the worship center holding signs that indicate what age group they are leading. We welcome you bringing your child forward to find their leader. You are welcome to either release them to the leaders care or go with them if you feel it will help your child transition better.

After the service is finished, our leaders will stay with your child(ren) until you pick them up with your printed pick-up sticker. If you can't remember where your child was located, please feel free to ask one of our team members in a blue KidsQuest t-shirt, or one of our welcome team members identified by their name lanyards.

What about older kids?

After the younger children are dismissed, we dismiss kids in middle school (grades 6-8) for Middle School Discussions, which occur three weeks out of the month. You will see a slide on the screen at the front of the worship center when Middle School Discussions is dismissed, and your student is invited to head out of the worship center through the back doors and join Pastor Mike and the other students in the foyer before heading to the meeting room. After the service, they'll be dismissed from their room and can meet you in the foyer.

During the week, Elevate (our Student Ministries for grades 6-12) meet on Thursday evenings, typically from 6:30 - 8:45pm. Click here for more information.

Am I going to be asked to give money?

No. We do have a part of our service in which we pass around an offering plate, which is an opportunity for our church family to give a financial offering as part of our weekly worship. As a guest, don’t feel obligated. It is okay to pass the offering plate along without giving.

Will I be singled out as a visitor?

No, we will not put you on the spot. We would love for you to reach out to us though, by filling out a "Connect Card" located in front of you in the pew, and then place it in the offering plate, or bring it to one of our ushers as you leave the worship center.

What kind of music can I expect?

You can expect a full worship team that is typically made of vocalists, piano, electric, acoustic and bass guitars, and drums. From traditional hymns to current worship songs, our worship team seeks to lead the church in worship of God through music.

Do I need a Bible?

Bible verses shared by the pastor will be displayed on a large screen for all to read. If you have a Bible, please feel free to bring it. If you don't have a Bible, visit the Welcome Center. We would love to provide one at no cost.

How will I know when to stand or when to sit?

Not knowing what actions are needed at certain times is unnerving. We would like to reassure you, all types of worship are welcome. If you are comfortable sitting, please sit. If you would like to stand, please stand. We also provide instruction during the service.

How long can I expect the service to go?

We try to keep our services at approximately 75 minutes, but may sometimes run slightly longer than that.

Is there anyone that can pray with me?

Our prayer team is available to pray with you after each service. Our team is located at the front of the worship center on both sides, and you will see them come forward at the end of the service.

What happens after the service ends?

Many of our congregation spend time visiting and catching up with one another. We serve coffee, juice and water after our services and invite you to grab something to drink and introduce yourself to someone near you or one of our pastors or welcome team (you'll see them with "Beyond Hello" name tag lanyards). We'd love to meet you!
